The school leaving qualifications giving access to Higher Education in Germany are:
General Higher Education Entrance Qualification / Allgemeine Hochschulreife (also known as Abitur)
Qualification entitling holder to study particular subjects / Fachgebundene Hochschulreife
Qualification entitling holder to study at a University of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) / Fachhochschulreif
Subjects: German, two foreign languages, mathematics, one or two natural sciences, history and another subject in this field (politics/social sciences, geography, economics …) music/arts, sports, religion.
Grading system: a scale from 0 to 15 (= highest mark) points.
Awarding period: middle of June to beginning of July.
Average mark of the Abitur: marks of 32 to 40 courses during the qualification phase (last two years before the examination) and marks of the Abitur examination in 4 or 5 subjects (2/3 : 1/3).
