For MBO qualifications awarded from 2007 onwards, the information should be availble in the Diplomaregister. Diploma holders can download a digital extract from the register or request a hard copy from Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) in Groningen. This organisation is responsible for the Diplomaregister. Comments/Additional Information
MBO (senior vocational education) programmes offer general education subjects combined with vocational subjects and vocational training. MBO programmes are offered at levels 1-4. Only diplomas awarded after completion of level 4 give access to higher education programmes at universities of applied sciences.
Up until 2015 all MBO diploma level 4 programmes lasted 4 years. Currently only some level 4 programmes still last 4 years. The study duration of most level 4 programmes is now 3 years.
