Before 2005 the two types of secondary school-leaving certificates existed: ‘Gimnáziumi érettségi bizonyítvány’ and ‘szakközépiskolai érettségi bizonyítvány’ (depending on the type of the awarding institution). Regarding the access to higher education both certificates granted the same rights.
The ‘érettségi bizonyítvány’ gives access to higher education, without distinction as to the student was involved in grammar or the vocational secondary school education.
